Cultivated areas for arable plants
£660 per hectare, per year
Where it applies
Arable, Temporary grassland
Eligibility conditions

What you'll do
Cultivate fallow margins or plots in spring or autumn to a fine, bare seedbed and let rare arable wildflowers germinate and set seed, keeping natural cover through summer. No fertiliser or pesticides (only spot-treat injurious weeds), and don't use it for vehicle tracks. This is a limited-area action — it counts toward the 25% cap.
Evidence to keep
- A dated record of when the area was cultivated
- Field operation records, with invoices
- Dated photos showing the arable plants
When
- Mar–Apr: Cultivate a fine seedbed in spring (or autumn) (first year)
