BND1 · Boundary features
Maintain dry stone walls
£27 per 100m (both sides), per year
Where it applies
Boundary
A boundary action — it's paid on the parcel's boundary features, not its area.
Eligibility conditions
- Wall at least 20m long, traditional dry stone construction, continuous and complete
- Management control of both sides required — one-sided control is ineligible
What you'll do
Keep dry stone walls (at least 20m long) on your land in good repair. Check each wall's condition at least once a year and carry out any repairs within 12 months, keeping the traditional dry-stone construction with top stones where locally typical. A boundary action — it doesn't double-fund area actions on the same parcel.
Evidence to keep
- A written or photographic record of each wall's annual condition check
- Dated records of any repairs
- Contractor invoices, if repairs were done for you
Combining with other actions
Can share its area with every other action except:
