What you'll do

A supplement to CLIG3 (very low nutrient grassland), applied for in the same SFI26 application: take a field-dried hay crop, but let the wildflowers and grasses flower and set seed first. Don't graze or cut for at least 8 continuous weeks in spring/summer before you harvest, and leave an uncut margin around at least half the edge. Cut for hay no earlier than late June (mid-July in severely disadvantaged areas), leave it to field-dry, and turn it at least once.

Evidence to keep

• Field operation records at parcel level, with invoices
• A grazing activity record, if you graze the aftermath
• Dated photos showing the hay crop and the uncut margin

When

• Apr–Jun: Don't graze or cut for ≥8 continuous weeks in spring/summer before harvest
• Jun–Jul: Cut for hay no earlier than late June (mid-July in SDAs); field-dry and turn at least once
