Eligibility conditions

• Below the moorland line, with existing scrub cover on less than 10% of the area
• Permanent grassland must be improved
• Not suitable for peatland or land used by breeding waders
• SSSI land is ineligible for this action
• Areas with historic or archaeological features are ineligible

What you'll do

Create a mosaic of scrub and open ground — let scrub regenerate naturally or plant native species to reach 10–60% cover — and manage it to hold that balance, protecting deadwood and any mature trees.

Evidence to keep

• Field operation records at parcel level, with invoices
• Dated photos showing the developing scrub mosaic
• An establishment record (natural regeneration or planting)
