Eligibility conditions

• Pond over 25 square metres and up to 2ha at the point of application, with the whole pond edge and water under your management control
• Excludes wastewater/road-drainage, sediment, balancing, synthetically lined, drainable (irrigation/fire) and aquaculture ponds
• SSSI land is ineligible for this action

What you'll do

Manage a pond (over 25 m², up to 2 ha) for clean, clear water with healthy aquatic and marginal plants. Control encroaching scrub around the edge and keep livestock from trampling and poaching the margins. Best done in autumn when water levels are low.

Evidence to keep

• Pond management records, with invoices
• Dated photos showing water clarity and marginal vegetation
• A record of scrub control around the edges
